Lucky bastard

Almost a grand, 14 hours at the vet, he still pees blood and the "Doctor" doesn't know why.

He does seem to be adapting to his new home otherwise.....

Oh!
And I almost burned down my motorcycle.

Deceased Lactate Products Delivery Personel

I can't help myself, I have to post sort of a "Then and Now"...or at least a "Then, and less then"
What The Clash is to a lot of people, these guys are to me.
The only band that matters.
Oh, and while I'm being all sensitive, I miss Dave Blood.

No words today

I'm beat, I spent the day wrestling with a giant patio umbrella.
I'm an expert now though....

Make yourself a Mad Man

I found this on that dreaded Boston "music" forum last week & never got around to posting it.
Apparently, it's got something to do with this TV show called "Madmen" which I suspect is a lot like The Hucksters or that Dudley Moore movie....er.....Crazy People(?) but set in the swingin' sixties.
Anyhow, if you've always wanted to cop that early/mid sixties look but just don't know where the good thrift stores are, go here.
Actually, you know what?
Do it & send me what you come up with.
I'll post it here so both of you can see what each other would look like.
After all....there's only like 2 people that read this crap anyhow.
Please send your results to rbarstis15@gmail.com
You might as well just do it....if not I'm liable to do it for you.
You don't really want that, do you?

Again, the link is here and I was a bit surprised at its accuracy.

I hate "Tribute" bands

This could be the best ad I've ever seen:

Moeller? Moeller? Anyone? Moller?

And this. This is just.....
I want to tattoo his words on my forehead.

Actually, no, wait.
I want to tattoo them on a Berklee kid's arms.

Used car lot

Its way past my bed time.
Once again, I'm trusting you all to write your own end to this one.
From a used car lot in...East Bridgewater, MA maybe?

More hot rod than custom

I was at a very non-scenester car show a few weeks ago & totally fell in love with this 54 Ford.

Every time I see one of these they automatically become the coolest things on Earth & it wasn't until last night that I figured out why.
As an impressionable teen I'd see Big John running around all over the place in this one:

20 years before Jimmie Vaughn's (sorry) this car was it for me.
The blue lexan windows, Lancer hubcaps....and underneath, well....
It was more hot rod than anything.
Apparently at one point it was an old drag car & had a pretty worked over Ford motor (I honestly forget what it was, other than OHV & a single four barrel on top of a tunnel ram type set up) & these killer ladder bars I wish I had pictures of.

Late night ride

I've been meaning to snap the rocket at this place for years.

Of course, I wasn't paying attention to my camera settings & they all look kinda messed up to me.

Saturday

I don't usually post on the weekends but I'm around & I found something everyone should read.
While flipping through The Rodder's Journal I found it, right there on page 40 of issue number 44.
In their article on dry lakes racing in Nevada in the early 50's it says, in relation to the accompanying pictures, "Something you might find interesting while perusing these photos with today's eyes is the lack of "rat rods," or semi-finished cars. in fact, a number of the cars at the lake event shown here were actual show-winners...""

Its Friday again

I don't know how, or why, Friday became YouTube day around here.
Its not like I'm sitting around doing nothing with all this time off.
Hell, I even managed to take a whole ton of pictures at one of my favorite "No-scenester" car shows a few weeks ago that need posting.
Like this one:

But no, instead I've decided to post The Coachmen....mainly 'cause I've recently found a few intelligible recordings on their MyBook page.
Great musicians and swell guys.

I can't be the only one

Ever rediscover things you already own?
I'm in the midst of packing but wanted to take a few minutes to set this up again.
An old music stand from the Gene Krupa Orchestra that I've had for probably 15 years now.
It's not the cheapest thing I've ever bought, nor the most practical, yet my only regret is not buying more of them, or the taller one the bass player would use.

We really need more product names like this one....it's an Ever-Glow!

What struck me as, I dunno, odd about these things (even more so than the uneven lines on the badge, they were all like this yet all different) was exactly how much heat these bulbs generate.

I can't imagine sitting behind this night after night in a suit, playing music and not sweating like a pig.

I often wonder how much sheet music went up in flames.....which is the only way a stage full of these things could look any better.

Yeah, I own stuff like this yet....I don't own a couch.
What the hell is wrong with me?

I've never posted this? Really?!?!?

I've had an E-Bay account since 1999.
I opened the account with hopes of finding something specific, or at least, related to a specific event....and it wasn't until earlier this year that I finally found something.
When I was a kid my Grandfather would always talk about the racing that would happen at the now long gone Weymouth Fairgrounds.
They'd use the same track for horses, cars, motorcycles and from what I've been told, they never ended well.
Especially for the horses.
So, with the advent of E-Bay, I figured someone, somewhere had to have some kind of tangible evidence of all this.
Photos, a poster, flyer, anything.
For years I searched and found nothing.
It was getting to the point where I'd have been happy to find something related to the BMX track that even I raced on in the early 80's.
Well, the wait was worth it.
Finally, earlier this year I found this program.
Now, I've been told they stopped any kind of motor racing before The War & through a little bit of inter tube sleuthing I'm gonna guess this is from 1941?

Eesh, they kind of scanned like crap.
At some point, I'll re do them.
In the mean time, you'll have to take my word for it....for a 68 year old document its like brand-new.

So, I'm kind of lacking motorcycle content I guess

I don't know if it's 'cause I haven't really seen too much nice stuff this year, or if I've just lost my psych enough to not really notice.
I'm not sure, but here's a few from a local "cruise" night.....where no one is moving.
