BillT was right

I can't think of anything better to do with an old "Z" car than small block it...although I'm not too sure about the weirdo anodized stuff on the blue one.

Japanese Car & Motorcycle day at Lars Anderson Museum was a few weeks back & now that the files seem to be behaving themselves, I've got a ton of stuff to test your sensibilities with.

Better living through mob money

The upside to Ted Kennedy dying is the sometimes not-so-great neighborhood of Mission Hill is suddenly graffiti free, all the bushes are trimmed...and there's even new sidewalks!
Hell, if a Kennedy kicked it once a month this city would look great!

What the?!?

I should be on my way to "Back together".
Instead I'm approaching "Further apart".
I hate motorcycles.

It's funny

I'm almost embarrassed to admit how many people's blog things I read on a daily basis.
So many in fact, I tend to notice a lot of the same subjects blog to blog.
Music, movies, bikes, ideas...a whole bunch of things & sometimes I wonder how much is coincidence.
Today's had to be.
There's no way it could be anything but.
Two different sites, two different subjects & pictures taken years apart both with 65 Buick Skylarks (or maybe Specials? I'm not gonna be that particular) in them.
Now, I don't expect anyone to know, nor do I expect any of you to care, but my old car was a 65 Skylark.
I got it just out of high school and went everywhere....and no where.
I loved this car more than anything, and yes, I cleaned it as often as I do my bike.
Someday it may come back around again....although it's been almost 20 years....
Good God....
Anyhow, it was (er, still is I suppose) a real deal black plate California car with all the paper work, Protecto-Plate, the whole bit.

Just ad the right wheel & tire set up (14 & 15 inch Cragars and Pro-Tracs thank you very much) and you get "Instant hot rod".

Also, like my bike, I've got a ton of pictures that I am sure only I am interested in...so I won't bore you any further...other than with this one.
The view out the rear window.
Usually, where my car was, an impractically low 60 Plymouth was not far behind.

So I WAS

I had planned on posting pictures from Japanese Car and Motorcycle Day at Lars Anderson from a week ago.
For whatever reason, though, the pictures are not cooperating right now & my patience is getting thin.
So, you get 5 more random pictures from my hard drive, none of which were taken in this century.
I gotta get this sorted out.
There was a bunch of neat stuff & it would give me another excuse to mention a non-scenester show.

Oh!
And while I'm thinking of it, I've got all of 1 Mad Man.
If you guys don't do it, I will and I know you don't want that.
None of you guys look good in skirts.

It's Friday again

I usually take the easy way out on Fridays & post some kind of Youtube thing, but I've already done enough of that this week.
I've got a ton of pictures that require captions that I don't feel like doing right now either, so I'll leave you with this instead.

This thing

I'm pretty sure this is what is making the smoke leak out of the wires....at least they are cheap.

The Decline of Western Civilization Part....? The Crank Cycle

And here they thought music would be our downfall.
Now, I try not to be too "Political" and I could really give a flying fuck about current "events" but all this yelling and carrying on at "Town Hall Meetings" has got to stop.
It accomplishes nothing and makes you look like a 4 year old who was just told you couldn't have a quarter for the gumball machine.
If you have a question to ask, or a point to make, learn to do it like a human being before you leave the house.
You're not being part of the solution, you're adding to the problem.
In fact, you're really just giving affirmation to the opinions the rest of the world has of us.

Jon Stewart did a great bit on why this happens & although The Daily Show is "Fake" news, it holds more merit than anything on Fox, MSNBC, CNN, or any of these other so-called "News" outlets.

Unfortunately, all I can find on Youtube has the segment broken up in to 2 parts.
If you've got the time, the set up is all in part one.
If you don't, the real genius starts around 6:20 & you only have to watch part two up to the first break (2:40)
Oh! Also, watch for motorcycle content!

While I'm on a rant

For God's sake, "Misunderestimate" is not a word!

A mid summer's nightmare

What the hell am I gonna do with this?
The bike dies out & I hear wire cooking.
I pull the harness apart to find no visible signs of damage, put power to it & everything is fine?
Huh?
I gotta do some more poking around, but it may be time to call on the The Expert. (Who'll never return from vacation if he reads this)

What's wrong, no, right about this picture?

I'm on the run again bit wanted to leave you with this.
There will be more later.

The Merc

I can't think of any other car that you don't even have to say the whole name for people to know exactly what you are talking about.

That may very well be every 49-51 Mercury picture I have in digital format other than this one:

which I had to include.
I can remember sitting with my Grandfather watching American Graffiti on Starcase (that weirdo precursor to cable).
When this thing caught my eye I know I asked what it was, to which he responded "The Merc."
